Visit the pub between 10 and 12 noon to pick up your free coffee and a copy of the Alford Arms and Chiltern Hills four-mile circular trail that takes you into the mighty Ashridge Forest, past a monastery, alongside a chalk stream and through little tucked-away hamlets before returning to the pub.

The Alford Arms has a wonderful philosophy of ‘children, dogs and muddy boots welcome’, but don’t think spit and sawdust. You’ll find instead a friendly atmosphere, good local ales, carefully chosen wines and delicious meals. You can book a table on the terrace or within the restaurant. But do remember we ALWAYS keep our bar tables free for walk-ins and your four-legged family member, on their lead is very welcome in the bar, dining room and on the terrace.
