The bus services are more frequent and fares are capped at £3, so board a scenic bus route that weaves their way through beech woodlands, tiny villages to trailheads or the pub. Bikes usually travel for free on the overground services, but require a mandatory cycle reservation as spaces are limited or not allowed during peak commuter services. If you are visiting by car, please be a considerate road user and park in designated parking and give cyclists and horse riders a wide berth when passing...or just slow down and enjoy the scenery!
From Train to Chilterns Trail
We’re close enough so you can find your Chilterns adventures from a train station, straight onto the trail or local high street at Amersham on the Met Line, Wendover on Chilterns Railway, Goring & Streatley on GWR and Berhamstead and Tring on the West Coast Mainline from London and the Midlands. The medieval village of West Wycombe can be reached on the Carousel, Redline, Red Rose or Red Eagle bus service in and around High Wycombe - itself a well-connected town.
TRAVEL ESSENTIALS
The Chiltern National Landscape occupies the space between Oxford and London, usually seen from the car or train window as you speed through. We are in fact very close to both cities served by 4 railway lines, 20 stations and the Met Tube Line. The bus service is greatly improved, including the X61 which takes a scenic route from Luton airport, via an Iron Age Hillfort at Ivinghoe Beacon to Aylesbury and Tring. Tickets on all good travel apps and are capped at £3 for single bus journeys on almost all participating regional operators. Great value!
