The Plough Shiplake

Chilterns Discovery Day

For the weekend of 11 & 12 July 2026 we will be offering Golden Hour from 3-6pm, when all of our Spritz (Hugo, Sarti & Aperol) will be £10 and all tap beer will be £5 per pint.

Date

The 11th and 12th July 2026

Shiplake is situational two miles (3 km) south of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England.

You will find The Plough Shiplake on Plough Lane, Reading Road, Henley-on-Thames, Shiplake, RG9 4BX.

Nearest train station

Shiplake is served by the Henley-on-Thames branch line, operated by Great Western Railway (GWR). This line runs as a shuttle between Henley and Twyford, which is the stop just before Reading if travelling from London.

Thames Path National Trail

No car needed to enjoy The Thames Path National Trail as it runs right through Shiplake. Pick it up at the station and follow the river south to Shiplake Lock — past rowing clubs, swans and willows, with views across to Wargrave on the opposite bank. Loop back through the village and arrive at Hestia with exactly the right thirst for a Spritz. About 3 miles, flat and easy.

Film locations

Scenes for the long-running ITV detective drama Midsomer Murders have been shot in the village, the local churchyard a particular favourite.

Forget busy Italian beaches or endless French queues. We've got the perfect place to enjoy relaxing summer vibes. Hestia, our award-winning garden ("Best New Designer 2025" from the Society of Garden Designers) has a wood-fired pizza oven, stunning cocktail menu and the perfect view overlooking the rolling Chiltern countryside.
